Editorial Team
Philosophical Inquiries has three distinct bodies: the Editor-in-chief, the Editorial Board and the Advisory Board. The Editor-in-chief is responsible for the overall editorial process, the transparency of publication methods, and the composition of issue abstracts. In accordance with the Code of Ethics, the Editor-in-chief ensures that all those involved in the review and production process fulfil their obligations. The Editor is supported in all his functions by the Editorial Board, which makes an initial assessment of submissions based on the completeness of the material provided, scientific integrity and compatibility with the journal's scientific objectives. Only the management and the Editorial Board can decide whether to initiate the review process, skip it (in very rare cases due to the author's exceptional prestige), or reject the proposal ex officio. The management also liaises with the Editorial Board to ensure a transparent review process, the linguistic appropriateness of submissions and their compliance with the journal's editorial standards.
Members of the Editorial Board may not be involved in the peer review process as reviewers, except in rare cases where such members are considered to be the leading experts on a particular topic. In such cases, which the Editors and the Editorial Board will endeavour to limit, the other members of the Editorial Board will communicate with the authors, protecting their identity and that of the reviewer; if the proposal is published, any coincidence will be stated on the first page of the paginated article.
The only function of the Advisory Board is to guarantee the scientific prestige of the journal. Its members are never involved in the editorial process of the issues. If they are asked to act as anonymous reviewers, the Editorial Board performs its function as in other cases.
